It works far better than I could have imagined.Pros:My LCD TV and Dish Network box interfered (RF from LCD was scrambling the remote's signal), and using this in RF mode is a perfect solution.Turning everything on with one button = brilliant.Rechargeable battery and cradle - the cradle isn't as finicky as some people said on this and other remotes. I bought this remote with the intention of simplifying the TV/Receiver/Satellite box setup, so that everything could be done easily with one remote. I don't even need to watch, I just drop it and it works every time.Cons:No PS3 control without adapter (Sony's fault for not including IR)
The initial setup of this device seemed confusing, but after having used it a while I'm very impressed. The setup application is brilliant providing the flexibility to customize all aspects of the equipment being controled, and the included extender communicates with the remote using Radio Frequency (RF) signals eliminating the need for line-of-site to the equipment being used. The only drawback so far is lack of the ability to control the power off sequence that turns all of the equipment off. I have a separate Z-wave switch to power on an external sub woofer amplifier that is powered on automatically, but is not powered down; I need to remember to use the remote to power it down manually. This is a wonderful value.
I think most people find the convenience of only having to push one button to watch a dvd, tv, music etc etc to be the best feature. For example if I want to watch a blu ray, it may turn on the tv but not the blu ray so if you push it again, than it may turn off the tv and turn on the blu ray. A small minor inconvenience but that's my con. The remote can't tell when the particular machine is on.
I'm excited to hook up my lights and fans through my remote when I get the time. Overall, I'd highly recommend this remote. I've adjusted the lag to respond the quickest but it didn't help. So far everything works great. It does take a bit to set it up online but once you figure out how to do it the first time, it's pretty darn easy. Cons: The set up online takes a little getting used to. So you can see where this goes, so then you have to control the tv or blu ray on the remote and turn it on that way.
It's very convenient to have just one remote for every single component in the house. Pros: Well I've had the Logitech 890 for about a month and I've set it up to control 3 tv's, a blu ray player, dvd player and 2 satellite receivers. I haven't had a chance to use the RF feature as all of my stuff is in line of sight but if it does what it's supposed to, than I'll be very happy. Also there is a bit of a lag for the components to respond to the remote.
Controls all the lights in my home theater with an Intermatic HomeSettings Z-wave network I set up myself. Fantastic value for a wonderful product. Easy. Just ordered my 2nd refurb 890, for a total of three 890's. The refurb is identical to the new, just comes in a plain brown carton. Controls all the components, even the PS3 with the $15 Nyko USB adaptor.
Oh, the price was outstanding since we priced it at a large electronics retailer and it was about $100 more than what I paid for here on Amazon.com There have been a few occasions we have sat on the remote accidentally and the channel changes on its own. This is the first Harmony remote that we own and are very impressed and satisfied with it thus far. I have noticed, however, that perhaps a key lock feature would be nice. Other than that, the product superb.
